December Events

December has come and gone, but I would like to share some of the photos from our Christmas party and Polar Express Day.

For our Christmas Party, students got to make an ornament, eat pizza and sweets, and play pin the nose on the reindeer.  We had a great time!  I was also surprised with a birthday banner to celebrate my half birthday:).  What great students and parents I have!  A special thank you goes out to my parents for volunteering their time or contributing to our party.

Thanksgiving Dessert Feast

The pilgrims (Mrs. Woods' class) and the Native Americans (Mrs. Darley's class) came together to eat a Thanksgiving Dessert Feast.

I would like to send my parents a special thank you for sending in so may delicious treats.

Massie School Field Trip

Tomochichi and Oglethorpe Walking Tour in Downtown Savannah

Mary Musgrove (a tour guide) is standing in the exact spot where James Oglethorpe lived in a tent in 1733 when he founded Georgia.

The next three pictures make me smile:).  Mr. Buttons (our tour guide) taught/reminded my boys of a life lesson.  He asked all the boys to stand or sit on the ground so that the ladies could sit on the benches.

Tomochichi was buried in Wright Square.  His grave site was covered with a memorial for Gordon who brought the railroad system to Georgia.  The granite boulder from Stone Mountain was later added to Wright square to honor Tomochichi.

Students reenacting a meeting between James Oglethorpe and Tomochichi.  Mary Musgrove acted as a translator for the two leaders.  She knew the English and Creek language and was able to help them communicate.
