September Birthdays

I would like to wish my September students a very Happy Birthday!

Fun with the Night Sky

The students really enjoyed learning about the night sky.  They were able to use their imagination to create their own constellation, carve Oreos to show the moon phases, and have class in a bubble to review the phases of the moon.

August Birthdays

I would like to wish my August students a very Happy Birthday!

Back to School 2013

As I reflect back to a week ago tonight, I remember feeling anxious and excited about the first day of school.  Although last Monday was my seventh first day of school as a second grade teacher, I still got the first day jitters.  My students and I were able to wash those first day nerves away by drinking jitter juice.  After the jitters were gone, we were able to have a great first day and a great first week of school.  I really enjoyed meeting and getting to know all of my students.  We have an exciting year ahead.

March Events

On March 28th, students had a blast hunting for eggs at our "Review" Easter Egg Hunt.  Once students filled their bags with eggs, they returned to the classroom to solve problems and answer questions related to content that has been taught this school year.  Students were able to trade in their correct answers for goodies.  Thank you parents for all the items donated to make this event a success.

Students went on a field trip to the Bamboo Farm and Coastal Center to explore plant life cycles.

We are excited about supporting our troops!  We sent Jaleel's dad letters, birthday cards, and several other goodies to show our appreciation for everything he does to protect and serve our country.

As students learned about the life cycles of different living organisms, they got to observe larvae change into pupas and transform into beautiful butterflies.  We fed the butterflies and housed them in the classroom for about two weeks.  We set them free in mid-March.
